Seven Gables is a historic home in Tallassee, AL available for rent for meetings, reunions, weddings, receptions, showers and many other types of events.

Seven Gables located at 650 Gilmer Avenue in the historic riverside city of Tallassee, was built in 1939 for the prominent Alabama entrepreneur Robert Blount (1893-1967). It has served as the home of two prominent Alabama families, the Blounts and the family of Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Ernest C. (Sonny) Hornsby.

The house, designed by architect George P. Turner of Birmingham, was planned to fit the existing foundations of an earlier Blount house, which had burned. Turner had studied in Philadelphia and his work was strongly influenced by the 18th century houses of the Pennsylvania countryside.

The house is located on 9.61 acres of sweeping wooded grounds with gigantic oak trees. It has two stories and over 5400 square feet of interior space and contains 16 rooms- a foyer, living room, library/study, dining room, kitchen, butler’s pantry with wet bar, four bedrooms, four bathrooms, solarium, and milady’s office.

In the foyer, the broad formal staircase are intricately hand carved of poplar wood as is the living room mantle. The formal living room and dining room have 11 foot ceilings, brass hardware on double doors and random width heart of pine floors.

This wonderful piece of history is offered by the City of Tallassee and managed by New Stone Realty, L.L.C. for rent for community and private events. The house can and has been utilized for meetings reunions, weddings, receptions, showers and many other types of events.
